    Northeastern University Twelve students from Sussex County were recently named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Northeastern University in Boston. To achieve the dean’s list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.25 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C during the course of their college career. Each student receives a letter of commendation and congratulation from their college dean. The 12 are Kristen M. Hoffman, of Augusta, majoring in international business; Skyler N. Hill, of Newton, majoring in architecture; Claire N. Carrabba, majoring in electrical engineering; Emily M. Johnson, majoring in journalism; Timothy L. O’Brien, majoring in physical therapy, and Diana N. Skrajewski, majoring in criminal justice, all of Sparta; Jessica De Naples, majoring in health science; Amy M. Lippincott, majoring in criminal justice; Cedar L. Petrick, majoring in chemical engineering, and Deteisha N. Smith, undecided major, all of Sussex; Diane N. Lusas, majoring in biochemistry and Judith N. Pearring, majoring in pharmacy, both of Vernon. McDaniel College Erika Wawzyanick, of Wantage, was named to the dean’s list her first semester at McDaniel College in Westminster, Md. To qualify for the dean’s list at McDaniel, a grade point average of 3.5 or higher is required. awzyanick also earned a varsity letter as goalie for the Green Terror’s field hockey team, which took third place in the Centennial Conference. Syracuse University Meghan Kohl of Andover, a senior majoring in marketing management and retailing at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management and the College of Visual and Performing Arts, was part of the first-place team in the Martin J. Whitman Capstone Business Plan Competition. The undergraduate students teams develop an original business concept and then write a comprehensive business plan for that concept. Judges of the business plans include university faculty, as well as 19 entrepreneurs and partners from the local business community.
