    Johnson & Wales University Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I., has named eight Sussex County residents to the dean’s list for the 2006 winter term. They are Jaclyn Albert of Lafayette, Samantha Rubel of Lake Hopatcong, Samantha Jo Sampey of Newton, Krista Schoonmaker and Paul Whitaker of Sparta, Paul Landowski of Sussex, an Stephen Olsen of Wantage. Albert and Sampey are pursuing a bachelor’s degrees in sports entertainment event management from the Hospitality College. Rubel is pursuing an associate degree in fashion merchandising from the College of Business. Schoonmaker is studying for a bachelor’s degree in retail marketing and management from the College of Business. Whitaker is working towards an associate degree in culinary arts from the College of Culinary Artss. Landowski is pursuing an associate degree in marketing from the College of Business, and Olsen is studying for an associate degree in hotel management from the Hospitality College. To receive dean’s list commendation at Johnson & Wales, students must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or above on a scale of 4. Founded in 1914, Johnson & Wales is a private, nonprofit, accredited institution offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in business, food service, education, hospitality and technology. With an enrollment of more than 16,000 students, Johnson & Wales maintains campuses in Charleston, S.C., Norfolk, Va., North Miami, Fla., Denver, Colo., and Charlotte, N.C., in addition to the Providence campus.
