Sussex County natives among ESU graduates

    East Stroudsburg, Pa. — Five local students were among the 461 graduates of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, having been conferred degrees during the winter commencement exercises on Saturday, Dec. 16. The following students were conferred bachelor’s degrees: Michael F. Frascella of Andover, with a B.A. in Psychology; Kathryn A. Guth of Andover, with B.A. in Psychology; Matthew Kurland of Newton, with a B.A. in History; Maria C. Burchfield of Newton, with a B.S. in Elementary Education; and Anna M. Cuneo of Layton, with a B.S. in Secondary Education-Mathematics. Three hundred fifty-three undergraduates received degrees, while the graduate school awarded 107 master of education, master of science, master of public health and master of arts degrees. A doctor of education was also be awarded. The ceremony, held in Koehler Fieldhouse, was presided over by Dr. Robert J. Dillman, university president. Warren Hoeffner ’55 delivered the commencement address. John R. Thatcher ’69, a retired distinguished professor of athletic training, served as Grand Marshal.
