VERNON - The board of directors of the N.J. Broadcasters Association elected Allen L. Lewicki of Vernon, director of operations for WAWZ-FM Star 99.1 in Zarepath, as treasurer, The announcement was made by Phil Roberts, president of the group. A broadcast industry veteran with more than 35 years’ experience in various aspects of radio, Lewicki started his career as a volunteer board operator and worked his way up to director operations. His background includes programming, community affairs, news and station management at stations throughout the tri-state area. He has served as executive director of the American Cancer Society in Orange County, N.Y., and was one of the founding officers of the Orange County Press Club in Goshen, NY. During his 21-year stint as director of operations at Star 99.1 WAWZ-FM, Lewicki has coordinated fundraising, programming and personnel management, as well as performing for the current contemporary Christian music radio format. Lewicki and his wife, Sharon, have two adult children and two grandchildren. “Lewicki strong management experience and service on the board make him an ideal executive to head up the financial operations for NJBA,” said Robets. The N.J. Broadcasters Association represents the radio and TV industry in the state. The group’s most recent outreach initiatives include donating $250,000 in local air time to promote the return of tourism to New Orleans, and participation in a nationwide effort to assist small radio stations in Louisiana and Mississippi devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
