West Milford's Evan Poole takes top army fitness honors

—� Reserve Officers�Training Corps Cadets Evan Poole, a student at Norwhich University and a resident of West Milford, took first place in the male category during the 8th Regiment Army physical fitness test on June 29 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Cynthia Stinnett a student at Austin Peay State University and a resident of Clarksville, Tennessee, took first place in the female category.

Competing against 444 of their peers, Poole grabbed the top spot with a score of 370, while Stinnett achieved the highest women's score with a 384.

The army physical fitness test is broken down into three parts, including the two-mile run, two-minute push-up and two-minute sit-up. Each Cadet completes all three and then receives a score based on the Army's score chart.

Cadets must pass the fitness test based on Army standards for age and gender in order to qualify for the Army. To pass the test, Cadets must receive at least 60 points in each event.
