WM graduate Fauna Ryerson selected to 2006 CACC All-Tournament Team

BLOOMFIELD — Bloomfield College softball pitcher Fauna Ryerson has been selected to the 2006 CACC All-Tournament team. Ryerson is a freshman right-hander from West Milford, NJ, and a graduate of West Milford High School. Ryerson’s selection to the All-Tournament Team marks the fourth time in the 2006 season she was cited by the CACC. On March 20, she was named pitcher and rookie of the week, and received Rookie of the Week honors again on April 24 and May 1. In Bloomfield’s three post season games, Ryerson went 1-2 with a 1.45 ERA. Fauna pitched 19.1 innings and allowed just four earned runs on 16 hits, while striking out 11 and walking six. Her opponent’s batting average over the 19 plus innings of work was a mere .198. In the Lady Deacon’s first round win over Goldey Beacom, Ryerson worked seven complete innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits, with five strikeouts. Next in a 14-inning marathon against Caldwell, Ryerson came on in relief of Kristin Wilhelm and worked six plus innings allowing one earned run on four hits with two strikeouts. In BC’s final post-season game against Felician College, Fauna pitched six and one-third innings and allowed just one earned run on seven hits while striking out four. In less then 26 hours time and over the course of the three games, 19.1 innings, Fauna threw, a machine like, 298 pitches. The Bloomfield freshman finished the season 11-16 overall (7-6 in the CACC) with one save, and a 1.68 ERA. She made 31 appearances which included 24 starts, 21 complete games and five shutouts. Ryerson pitched a grand total of 178.2 innings, allowing just 43 earned runs, 155 hits and 59 walks while recording a team high 75 strikeouts. Her opponent’s batting average at the end of the 2006 season was .224. She finished the regular season with a team high .983 fielding percentage, committing only one error in 2006. Fauna finished with a 1.68 ERA, third best in the CACC.
