WEST MILFORD-Over 1,000 motorcyclists broke the quiet of a sleepy afternoon as they drove through West Milford on Sunday. They were in the process of raising more than $40,000 for the New Jersey March of Dimes fight against premature birth. Riders saddled up on Route 46 in Pine Brook and went on a 60 mile scenic journey through northern New Jersey. They passed through Montville, Rockaway Township, Jefferson Township, West Milford, and Warwick, NY on their way to the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta. An annual event, this was the first year RIDE, as it is called, had a national sponsor — Kawasaki Motor Corporation, who will be also supporting the RIDE events for the next three years. Other sponsors include Elizabethtown Gas Company, Rider Insurance Agency, Bergen County Harley-Davidson/Buell, GEICO Motorcycle, and WNNJ 103.7 FM as local sponsors. Among the riders were members of Blue Knights® New Jersey Chapter XIII, Riding Divas, Bergen County HOG, and the North Jersey Riders Motorcycle Club. The trip ended with a celebration at the fairgrounds featuring live entertainment, food, shopping and prizes.
