Accident shuts down Rt 511

    WEST MILFORD-On Sunday, October 2 The West Milford Police responded to a two car motor vehicle accident on Greenwood Lake Turnpike (Rt. 511) at the intersection of Burnt Meadow Road. A 1997 Ford pick up driven by Christopher Newbury (age 34) of Hewitt crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a 1993 Dodge Caravan operated by Nart Bachkaz (age 49) of Haledon. Mr. Bachkaz, Nada Bchkaz, and eight juvenile members of the family Nart, Nada and one other family member were Medi-vac’d to St. Joseph’s in Patterson. Four other family members were transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by UGLVAC. One family member was transported to Hackensack University Hospital by WMFAS. Two family members were transported to Chilton Memorial Hospital by WMFAS. None of the injuries appeared life-threatening. Greenwood Lake Turnpike was closed for approximately two hours. Sgt. Celano and P.O. Greer investigated the accident. No additional information was available.
