Spring doesn’t just signal the end of winter. It is a new beginning in the cycle of life. In about a month, kittens will begin to arrive at the West Milford Animal Shelter and all shelters throughout the world. Sometimes the kittens are released to the shelter by their owners in litters along with their mothers, sometimes they are released with only their siblings or they may come in alone. Many times they come into the shelter as strays by people who have found them. Many people are drawn to kittens and are willing to adopt them. The adult cats at the shelter are not always so lucky, especially at this time of year. But there are advantages to adopting an adult cat. Their personalities are evident. They have received a complete medical check-up, are up-to-date on all necessary inoculations, have been tested for feline leukemia, and have been spayed or neutered. All of this adds up to big savings in time and money for the new owners. Keeping an open mind and heart will lead you to the pet that is meant for you.
