WARWICK-The Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery will host an evening of opera on Friday, July 15, featuring soprano Rachel Graham and her piano accompanist, Timothy Getz. "We've always wanted to have opera at the winery and when two enthusiastic talented artists like Rachel and Tim proposed the idea we were very excited about the possibility" said winery co-owner Jeremy Kidde. During the past 10 years the winery has been host to many local and nationally known artists in the folk and blues community through its "Uncorked and Unplugged in the Orchard" music series. July 15 marks the first time opera will be performed at the winery. The performance is a compilations of pieces spanning a large range of musical styles from Strauss to Sondheim, featuring works from Puccini, Faure, Menotti, and Gershwin. The show is set for two hours with one 15 minute intermission. Both artists are from Warwick. Graham is a sophomore at Manhattan School of Music, studying opera; Getz is a freshman at Oberlin College and plans to continue his musical studies there. Doors open at 7 p.m. The Winery Bakery café will be open serving a bistro style menu until the show begins at 8. Tickets are $10 and reservations are recommended as space is limited.
