Augusta Over 100 golfers took part in the fourth annual Chili Open took place on recently at the Sussex County Fair Grounds in Augusta. The Chili Open was a fundraiser for the United Way in which golfers paired off in fours and played 18 holes of golf around the fair grounds. On completion of their round of golf, they returned to an adjacent building where steaming hot chili and entertainment awaited them. “We have great help today from the various Sussex County Rotary Clubs,” said United Way volunteer Barbara Miller. “All of the money that we raise stays in the county and goes to various community projects,” she added. The United Way is a national network of more than 1,300 locally governed organizations that work to create lasting changes in communities and peoples lives. According to its Web site, the United Way raised $3.98 billion in 2005-2006, making it the nation’s largest private charity.
