The West Milford High School Highlander Band has been awarded second place for the Best Visiting High School Band Ensemble in this year's annual St. Patrick's Day parade in New York City. Highlander Band Director Peter Bauer made the announcement this week after being notified by parade organizers, who also sent an official plaque honoring the band. "This means that the band came in second out of all of the visiting high school bands there that day, and there were many," said Bauer. "I ask everyone to join me in congratulating the members of our band for this tremendous accomplishment." This is the second time in as many years that WMHS band students have been asked to participate in this prestigious event, which marked its 243rd anniversary this year.
