WARWICK—What began as a bedtime story he told his four-year old daughter one night has become a real-life fairy tale for Warwick author Matthew S. Field. On Saturday, June 18, Field will be at The Bookstore, 20 Main St. in Warwick, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, to talk about and sign his book, "Father Like A Tree," scheduled for release on Father's Day. Last February, Field lost his full-time job to corporate downsizing. In April, his wife of 12 years, six-months pregnant with the couple's third child, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. In June, the couple's son was born in perfect health. However, this February during the book's final stages of production, Field's wife passed away due to complications related to the disease. Written in a fairytale style and illustrated with bright watercolors by Tom Hedderich, "Father Like A Tree" is the story of a beautiful bird that lands on the branch of a tree and decides to make it her home. She builds a nest and lays three eggs. As the baby birds grow, the bird reveals important lessons about life, love, family, and relationships.
