The Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ is seeking nominations for the first annual Women and Wildlife Awards. During National Women’s History Month in March 2006, the awards will recognize women biologists and their achievements in conserving New Jersey’s wildlife and wildlife habitat. Wildlife science is a physically and intellectually challenging field where women are often a minority, yet many women have excelled in wildlife biology positions across the nation and particularly in New Jersey. The Women and Wildlife Awards will celebrate and recognize New Jersey’s outstanding women wildlife biologists. These awards, presented by the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ, a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving New Jersey’s endangered wildlife, will honor women for their achievements, for the advances they have made for women in the profession, and for their contributions to New Jersey’s wildlife. By acknowledging these special individuals, we hope to encourage more young women to see the possibilities that the biological sciences, especially wildlife biology, can offer. Nominees must be a professional female wildlife biologist currently living and working in New Jersey who has achieved a distinguished professional record that includes significant contributions to New Jersey’s wildlife. All nominations must be postmarked, faxed or e-mailed by January 27, 2006. Judged by a panel of independent reviewers, the award winners will be honored at a fundraising reception and art show on Sunday, March 26, 2006, at the historic Prallsville Mills in Stockton, NJ. Official nomination forms can be found online at www.conservewildlifenj.org/womenandwildlife.html or by calling 609-292-3707.
