First West Milford PAL team to have undefeated season win the division championship WEST MILFORD The fifth grade Wildcats made West Milford history by defeating Randolph 43-39 to take the 2006-2007 Lakeland Playoffs - Super Pee Wee Division championship. The team is the only team in PAL history to have a complete undefeated season with a 19-0 record. The Wildcats stunned Randolph when they outperformed them with a comeback from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter. “I can’t believe we came back,” said Tom Dionisio, head coach. “Randolph is a really good team. I told them (the Wildcats) if we came back, we had to play the best basketball they have played all year.” Several turnovers were taken by Donovan Wright and Nick Lima, plus strong rebounding under the net, helped break down their opponents lead. “It got closer,” Dionisio said. “At four minutes, I said now we are in it.’ We had a big defensive game and Nick made a big shot with the three-pointer that ended up winning the game for us.” And a big shot it was, with under a minute left, Lima grabbed the ball from a rebound and ran it across court. He stopped just short of the three-point line and threw the ball. It hit all net to bring the score up to 42-39. Randolph needed only one three-pointer to tie the game but Lima was able to pull a foul with one-second left in the game. He made one out of two shots to secure the win for the Wildcats. “It was awesome,” Lima said. “I was pumped. I took my time to work the ball around and look for the open shot.” Not only did he play well, he took an elbow to the lip that caused a delay of game because he came off the court dripping with a bit of blood. Within one minute, the court was cleaned and his bleeding stopped. He ran right back into the game. Dillon Forsythe was also able to pull in a couple fouls that helped the team close the lead at key moments in the game. I was a little nervous,” he said. “It felt good. We were down by 13 and came back and won.” Wright, who also had the game of his young life, was thrilled about his team’s perfect record. “I feel pretty good,” he said. “We may make history with this. It’s good to know whenever they look up the PAL records, our names will be there.”
