Kasia Osuchowski is ready to enjoy a cup of orange juice at a St. Joseph’s Table recently. The feast was hosted by a group of teenagers from the St. Joseph Church confirmation program. The custom of a Saint Joseph Table dates back to the Middle Ages in Sicily. The people were suffering through an extended drought and many died of hunger as the crops failed. Praying to Saint Joseph to intercede on their behalf, the peasants promised that they would provide a banquet honoring God and the saint if the rains would come. The rains came, the crops grew, and at harvest time the feast was prepared. (Photo by Ginny Raue)
