Council in support of legislature to end anonymous postings

WEST MILFORD — The township council passed a resolution earlier this month supporting legislation requiring public internet forum websites to be able to identify those who post on their forums. If legislation were passed online forum operators would be required to show the legal names or addresses of its contributors. The support from the council follows the fallout from “Fleecingwestmilford.com” and other local websites which allow individuals to post messages which could be offensive or libelous under the cover of pseudonyms.
