WEST MILFORD The West Milford Democratic Organization will introduce its two local council candidates, James C. Geist and James F. Rauth at a press conference next week. At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, at Hillcrest Community Center, Geist and Rauth will share their ideas and plans for West Milford if elected in November. They will be joined by Passaic County Sheriff Jerry Speziale and Freeholder Candidate Joanne Graziano. With 16 years in law enforcement, Rauth is a sergeant with the N.J. Division of Parole. He lives with his wife, Tracy, and their two children. He is a 10-year resident of West Milford. Rauth just this week lost a bid for a board of education seat. A former minister, James Geist has spent the past eight years teaching high school social studies in New York City. He is a member of the NJ Federation of Sportsmen. He lives in Upper Greenwood Lake with his wife, Kelly, and is a member of the Upper Greenwood Lake Property Owners Association. Giest and Rauth will go up against two sets of Republican running mates. Joe Smolinski, who is currently finishing former council member Joe Elcavage’s term, is running with Dr. Sal Schimmenti; Ada Eric is running with Dick Nobis. There will be two positions open, the one held by Smolinski. and the one held by Republican William Gervens, who isn’t seeking reelection.
