Department get three new police officers

    WEST MILFORD — Three new police officers were sworn in last Wednesday, April 12. They are Lewis Rose, Shannon Sommerville and Bruce Lederman. Rose is married, has two sons and has been a West Milford resident for approximately two years. Before coming to the West Milford Police Department, Lewis worked in Bergenfield as a 9-1-1 telecommunicator. Prior to that he served in the U.S. Army, where he was deployed to Romania and then Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Rose has been a firefighter since 1992 and is a member of Macopin Fire Company. Sommerville has an Associate of Applied Science degree in Exercise Science from the County College of Morris and attended East Stroudsburg University and William Paterson University. She is a longtime resident of West Milford Township. Prior to becoming a West Milford Police Officer, She worked as a personal trainer and martial arts instructor. Sommerville is a second-degree black belt. She also won the physical fitness award at the Passaic County Police Academy. Lederman is married and has lived in West Milford for approximately six years. He attended Bergen County Community College, and prior to coming to the West Milford Police worked for an engineering company. Lederman has been a member of Macopin Fire Company for about five years.
