PATERSON — Passaic County Municipal Alliance Program and the Superior Court Juvenile and Adult Drug Court hosted a conference to educate the community about the work of the Municipal Alliances and drug courts in Passaic County. The event was held Friday, November 3 at the Brownstone in Paterson and was funded by the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. The Passaic County drug courts are administrated through a team process that address nonviolent drug related cases. The Passaic County Municipal Alliance is a community based prevention organization of volunteers that coordinates prevention programs in each town. A judge supervises the drug court programs in coordination with court staff, probation officers, attorneys and treatment counselors. The program is unique in the criminal justice system because of the close collaboration between criminal justice and drug treatment professionals.
