Enrique Corona Lopez, who has been serving as a deacon at Our Lady Queen of Peace, recently completed his studies at Immaculate Conception Seminary at Seton Hall University and was ordained into the priesthood last weekend at St. John’s Cathedral in Paterson. Lopez was born in Cuba and was raised Catholic, despite the illegality of the faith. He went to college in Havana and became a nurse, but after five years of working, he was arrested for supporting religious and social reform. He spent over three years in one of Cuba’s worst prisons. Eventually he left Cuba and is not allowed back. His parents, whom he had not seen in ten years, came to the United States to be at his ordination. They met up with each other in Miami before traveling to New Jersey for the ceremony. This week the parish was notified that Father Enrique was officially assigned to Our Lady Queen of Peace. He is pictured here with his parents Radames and Maria.
