Field hockey scores two shutouts

— The Highlander field hockey team racked up two shutouts and a tie last week.
West Milford had 21 shots on goal last Wednesday in its tie with Northern Highlands. West Milford found the back of the net just twice, once by senior defender Gianna Galioto, who was unassisted, and the second goal netted by Gabby Catania, assisted by Meghan Curran.
Last Friday, West Milford edged out Pompton Lakes, 1-0. With 11 shots on goal, Maura Dunlop scored the only goal of the game. Curran added another assist. Senior goaltender Jenna Bednarofsky had her second shut out of the season, saving three shots on goal by Pompton Lakes.
The girls earned their third shut out of the season on Monday, Sept. 24, against River Dell. The girls won 1-0 with Maura Dunlop earning the team's only goal, assisted by Megan Chiovaro.
