HEWITT-Elizabeth Meeker was at work when her neighbors Charles and Betty Roche noticed her house was on fire. The Roches called 911 and by the time police arrived the house was already engulfed in flames. Five of the West Milford/Upper Greenwood Lake Fire Companies responded. They were assisted by the Erskin Lake and Highland Lake Fire Companies. Both the West Milford and Upper Greenwood Lake First Aid Squads also responded. There were no people or pets on the premises, however. Police contacted Meeker at her job. Fire Marshall Mike Woch said on Tuesday that he had investigated and the fire was accidental.
