Ringwood — Ringwood Garden Club hosted the Ringwood Planning Board led by Joy Farber, Chairman of Master Plan Review Advisory Committee and Randy Drisgula, planning board member. Each person who attended the meeting received a copy of the Draft Vision Statement prepared by the planning board. Farber discussed the history of the Master Plan and shared a copy of the original Master Plan of 1991 as well as the 1998 re-examination of the plan with the audience. She also stated that the Master Plan in Ringwood share in the same reviewing process as the local towns. Farber presented an overview of the plan, listing some of its chief components such as goals and objectives, land use, housing plan, storm water management plan, conservation and natural resources plan) and stream habitat, among others. Ringwood is working with COAH, Council on Affordable Housing to discover ways on how to provide moderate and low-income housing. Since the Mt. Laurel decision was handed down, people in New Jersey have a constitutional right to housing at affordable prices. She reviewed some of the plans Ringwood has come up with to fill the need, but so far, none has worked. A lively question and answer period ended the meeting. Audience participation was high. The planning board will entertain suggestions from the community until December 15.
