Glenn Wenzel named head of veterans council

    West Milford — Glenn R. Wenzel, former mayor and councilman in West Milford, has been named president of the West Milford Veterans Council by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He succeeds Karl Dankewerth, who held the position for the previous 10 years. A recently retired judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Wenzel has served as the master of ceremonies for eight of the last 10 Memorial Day observances. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. The duties of the Veterans Council include being a liaison to the township governing body for the veterans organizations, overseeing the use of Veterans Park, supervision of the Veterans Service officer and participating in the appropriate armed forces and veterans observances. The Veterans Council derives its authority by past action of the governing body and by the members of the VFW and the American Legion.
