WEST MILFORD The Friends of Long Pond Ironworks, Inc. of Hewitt, NJ, is holding a golf outing September 18,, at Hickory Hill Golf Course, 156 Route 17A, in Warwick, NY. Nancy Jessen, owner of South Shore Marina, Greenwood Lake Turnpike, Hewitt, has offered a boat as prize for the “Hole In One” during the outing. The golf outing will be a scramble format starting at 8 a.m. with check-in and a continental breakfast. A shotgun start at 9 a.m. will be followed by a buffet luncheon, awards and prizes at 1:30 p.m. in the club house, Join the fun at Hickory Hill Golf Course on September 18 to play golf, win prizes and preserve history. The cost of the outing, breakfast and lunch is $100 per golfer. If you do not play golf but would like to join us just for lunch, the cost of the lunch only is $30. The Friends of Long Pond Ironworks is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, restoring and interpreting the remaining structures at Long Pond Ironworks and the history behind them. Proceeds from the golf outing will go toward preservation of the historic blast furnaces, ironworkers’ homes, and other structures located within the Long Pond Ironworks State Park Historic District in West Milford.
