Grad wins Trig-Star award

    WEST MILFORD-Matthew Webb, a 2004 graduate of West Milford High School, is the winner of the 2004 TrigStar contest offered by the New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors (NJSPLS). The contest was administered in this area by the NJSPLS Bergen-Passaic Chapter. Webb accepted his honor, accompanied by his parents, Christine and Mark Webb, and his math teacher Jill Nitkinas, at a recent ceremony held at the Glen Rock Inn in Glen Rock, presided over by Chapter President J. R. Lemuel Morrison, PLS, of New York City. Steve Eid, PLS, of West Milford, the NJSPLS local TrigStar sponsor, bestowed awards to Webb and Nitkinas, who administered the exam. He and chapter member Gary Veenstra, PLS, of North Haledon, coordinated TrigStar for New Jersey. The $400 cash prize to Webb was comprised of a contribution from NJSPLS of $50 for being the school winner, $250 for having the top state score, and $100 from the local chapter. Nitkanas received a certificate for teaching excellence and a $400 award, comprised of contributions of $250 from NJSPLS and $150 from Bergen-Passaic.
