Halloween parade for local youngsters is planned

    West Milford-Children and friends of the "great pumpkin" are invited to the West Milford Parks & Recreation Department's annual Halloween Parade and Jack-o'-Lantern Contest to be held at Bubbling Springs Lake on Oct. 30. Participation is limited to West Milford children up to sixth grade. Participants are encouraged to pre-register at the Parks & Recreation Office in Hillcrest Community Center beginning Oct. 18 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 P.M. Mondays through Fridays. Registration at Bubbling Springs on the day of the Parade will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. This year we will have some very special entertainment n "John Foley's Radar Rangers" n music for children and families. The entertainment will begin at 11 a.m. and the parade will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. Children will march in the field and before the judges. Five categories (prettiest, funniest, most original, scariest and group) in each of four age levels (2 and under, 3 & 4, 5 to 8, and 9 & up) will receive trophy awards. Those wishing to enter the jack-o'-lantern carving contest should register entries at Bubbling Springs on the day of the Parade. There will be one trophy for each of the following categories: Best Carved, Best Painted, Best Decorated and Biggest. The contest is for children only.
