Highlanders remain unbeaten on gridiron

    West Milford snapped a scoreless battle in the third quarter and went on to defeat Passaic Valley 15-7 in a Northern Hills Conference — Skyline Division football game played in West Milford on Friday evening. The win was the second straight for the unbeaten Highlanders who travel to Essex County to battle West Orange on Saturday. The kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jahmel Donald, who churned out 151 yards rushing on 15 attempts, opened the scoring in the third quarter when he broke loose and scampered 35 yards into the end zone. Paul Fogg split the uprights with PAT attempt. The Highlanders tacked on a two-point safety to take a nine-point lead into the final 12 minutes. Matt Lovendusky, West Milford's signal caller, padded the Highlander's lead to 15 points when he plunged three yards into the end zone in the fourth quarter but the extra point attempt failed. The Hornets got on the board later in the fourth quarter to cut the final margin to eight points. West Orange is winless in two tries, having lost a 44-20 verdict to Orange last Saturday in West Orange.
