Historic Preservation Commission receives grant

    WEST MILFORD — Local residents interested in historic building and restoration techniques and methods can get free technical assistance and information. The township recently received a grant from the State Historic Preservation Office, under the Certified Local Government Program. These grant funds, which are given annually to the state by the U. S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, are being used for technical assistance and training workshops and sessions. Residents can make an appointment with Wayne T. McCabe, who has been retained as a professional consultant, said James Van Hooker, Chairman of the Township Historic Preservation Commission. McCabe will also advise commission on all applications it will be reviewing and will conduct training sessions for the Township Council, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment and Environmental Commission. Van Hooker said McCabe would also be reviewing all available information on the buildings located in the contemplated “Main St.” Historic District. McCabe will conduct two evening public information sessions about the historic district. Each of these sessions will be held in the evening in the municipal building.
