WARWICK- Committee members and volunteers St. Anthony Community Hospital’s first annual Classic Car Show almost ran out of space when 120 classic and antique automobiles showed up Sunday, Oct. 22, at the Kuiken Brothers parking facility on South Street in Warwick. The response exceeded expectations. And with three lanes in the parking area as well as alongside the company’s parking area on South Street, plus a few other spots here and there, the car show was an impressive sight that attracted crowds of visitors. The event also featured music, refreshments, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and “people’s choice” car judging. Visitors had an opportunity to cast their ballots for the best of show. A 1969 Pontiac convertible, owned by Anthony Jacklitsch of Sugar Loaf, won first place. A 1934 Ford Coupe placed second and a 1956 Ford Fairlane came in third. “I want to thank all the committee members and volunteers who worked so hard to make this First Annual Classic Car Show such a huge success,” said Leah Cerkvenik, executive vice president/administrator St. Anthony Community Hospital. “And all of us are especially grateful to Kuiken Brothers for generously offering the use of their parking facility for this special event. We also wish to thank the car owners, local businesses and the public for their strong support.” Co-chairs for the First Annual Classic Car Show were Joseph and Marie Kosen. Volunteers were Michael Narciso, Kathy Salvato, Lisa Fedorka, Rudy Breedy, Gloria Figueroa, Wendi Perez, Carly Kosen, Larry Delacourt, Hector Sanchez, Rosanne Hart, Helen Laskow, Ann Lombardi-Nathan, Eddie Perez, and the event’s littlest helpers: Christian and Gabriel Perez. The proceeds from this event will be used to help fund the modernization and expansion of St. Anthony Community Hospital’s Emergency Department.
