There are few guarantees in life, but one guarantee is change. Most people handle change, such as moving, responsibly. That was not the case with a family that left West Milford and left their nine cats behind. All nine were recently brought into the West Milford Animal Shelter by animal control officers. Three of the nine had been cared for by someone in the neighborhood and were clean and in good health. The other six were not as fortunate. They were filthy and battered and in poor physical condition. They were all severely malnourished and dehydrated. Some had damage to their ears caused by untreated ear mites. And one had only wisps of whiskers; the rest had been burnt off. Their ear mites have been treated but they are left with permanent damage to the outside to some of their ears. Their ears are crinkled and swollen. Despite their ordeal, eight of the nine are very friendly and loving. One is still a bit timid and shy. Six of the nine are now available for adoption. They are: Wally, a five year old male, Whiskers, a four year old male, Wilbur, a three year old male, Winnie, a two year old female, Willy, a three year old male (the timid one) and Winston (the one with the burnt whiskers) is a three year old male.
