Withstanding another cold four hours on Dec. 19, the West Milford High School Interact Club members stood outside ShopRite to collect donations for the needy of West Milford. The group schedules two collection days each year. This year, both of those days had forecasts of snow, which brought many, many shoppers to the supermarket. Instead of weathering the economy, the kids collected about three times as much as they have in years past, according to Marilyn Lichtenberg, the club’s moderator. “We were very fortunate this year,” she said. The Interact Club, sponsored by the Rotary Club, has been in existence for 10 years and has 67 members. The money collected, Lichtenberg said, goes to the Salvation Army for the residents of West Milford who are in need.
