WEST MILFORD — Jazzercise, the dance-fitness program, announced the opening of its newest fitness center in West Milford. Located at 1884 Union Valley Road, (behind Lakeland Auto Parts), the center offers more than 10 classes weekly and has plans to expand in the near future. They will hold an open house from January 1 through Jan. 22 at the center. New participants can take a free week of classes. This event allows the public an opportunity to see what Jazzercise is all about and how working out can be fun while still getting the results a customer desires,” said instructor/owner Christine M. Leonescu. Classes are currently being held Monday/Wednesday/Friday at 9:30 a.m., Saturday/Sunday at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday/Thursday at 5:45 p.m., and Monday/Wednesday/Thursday at 7 p.m.. Childcare is available for all weekday morning classes for an additional fee of $2 per child per hour. A monthly pass is $45 for unlimited classes with a $50 joining fee. If a new participant registers before the end of their free week, the registration fee is only $25. “Jazzercise has become so popular in West Milford that we found it necessary to open our own facility,” Leonescu said, refering to classes that had been held at the PAL building. Jazzercise combines elements of dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing and more to create programs for people of every age and fitness level. The center offers alternative formats as well including Jazzercise Circuit Training, Jazzercise Personal Touch, and Junior Jazzercise for kids 7-11. Now celebrating its 37th year, Jazzercise was created by Judi Sheppard Missett. There are more than 6,300 instructors teaching 20,000 classes weekly worldwide. Leonescu has been an instructor in the West Milford area for over four years and throughout Northern NJ for over 10 years. She has one other associate instructor, Monica Church, and has plans for further expansion throughout the year. For more information 973-208-9089.
