WEST MILFORD—The Academy of Koeikan Karate in West Milford will be conducting a Martial Arts fund-raiser to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on October 22. Sensei Alan A. Mendillo Sr. has volunteered to coordinate the program. The money raised in this event will help to ensure that children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases will have a better chance to live. To participate in this program registration information is available by contacting Academy of Koeikan Karate. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. In 1962 when the hospital opened, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common form of childhood leukemia, was only survived by four percent of our patients; the current cure rate is now 85 percent.
