WEST MILFORD The West Milford Township has passed an ordinance requiring the licensure of all commercial fertilizer applicators conducting business in West Milford Township effective April 17, 2007. The purpose of this ordinance is to prohibit the use of fertilizer containing phosphorous, with exceptions, to protect our waterways. A copy of the ordinance and an application will be mailed to area landscapers. If applicable, a commercial license must be obtained prior to the use of any fertilizer in town. If you do not receive an application in the mail, please call and we will mail you one or you can pick one up at the West Milford Health Dept. located at 1480 Union Valley Road. Per the ordinance, a business found to be operating without the required license is subject to penalties including a fine up to $2,000. If you have any questions concerning licensing procedures or requirements, please feel free to contact the Health Department at 973-728-2720.
