As part of a historic transformation by the Girl Scouts of the USA Girl, the Lenni-Lenape Council, Morris Area Girl Scout Council and the Girl Scout Council of Bergen County will merge. The merger will make the most effective use of the councils’ resources to better serve local communities and deliver a superior Girl Scout leadership program to over 37,000 girls. Under a nationwide restructuring, the nation’s 312 Girl Scout councils will realign into 109 high-capacity councils. Helen Wronski, CEO of the Morris Area Girl Scout Council, said the realignment is a smart business move for the three northern New Jersey councils which already lead the nation in market share and service to girls. Currently, Morris Area serves more than 13,000 girls in Morris County, Lenni-Lenape serves over 11,000 girls across Warren, Passaic, Bergen, Morris and Sussex counties, and the Girl Scout Council of Bergen County serves over 13,000 girls in Bergen County. “By pooling our resources, girls will have more ways to participate in Girl Scouting and more opportunities to take advantage of the leadership development, career exploration and various programs we offer to help girls build their character and skills for success in the real world,” Wronski said.
