Lights Festival Tomorrow

    WEST MILFORD-The Autumn Lights Festival returns to West Milford Saturday, Oct. 9. Now in its 10th year, this year's fall celebration will be more extensive than ever and offer something of interest for every age group, according to a spokeswoman, Laurie Welkey. A record number of vendors and crafters will showcase their wares at Bearfort Shopping Village (formerly Rockport Shopping Park). This venue also will feature games and amusements for children and live music. Live entertainment takes place at Town Hall, Valley View Pub and the rear of Belcher Run Shopping Center, among other sites. The Presbyterian Church will hosts a chicken barbeque. Running and biking enthusiasts may want to take part in either the 5K foot race to benefit Juvenile Diabetes or the Balance Bar 24-Hour Adventure, a multi-discipline endurance race. For history buffs, the day will be incomplete without visits to the West Milford Museum and Historic Long Pond Ironworks where special demonstrations and displays are planned. Pinecliff Lake Community Club on Union Valley Road will host its Oktoberfest Open Haus featuring German food and drink. The West Milford Real Republicans have scheduled a children's carnival and Friends of Greenwood Lake Airport have set Young Eagles Day to introduce young visitors to the excitement of flight.
