WEST MILFORD — All polling places throughout the township will be open and ready for voting Tuesday, Nov. 6.
There were concerns that Macopin would not be operational for Election Day, but power has been restored and it will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. like all other polling places.
Displaced voters
Voters who have been displaced by the storm may vote anywhere in the state, according to the state's chief election official, Kim Guadagno. Voters may vote by provisional ballot at any polling place in the state. All ballots must be counted in the voter's county of registration.
In addition, those who have received absentee ballots and could not send them back, now have more time to do so. They must be postmarked by Nov. 5 but the deadline for receipt of the ballots is extended to Nov. 19.
Those displaced by the storm who cannot get out to vote and do not have an absentee may request an application by email or fax from Passaic County. After receiving the application, the county clerk will determine if the applicant is a qualified voter. If so, the clerk will send the ballot and the waiver of secrecy form to the voter by either email or fax. The applications for electronic voting will be accepted by the clerk through 5 p.m. on Nov. 6.
