WEST MILFORD — This is the weekend for the West Milford Animal Shelter's first annual 5K Run/Walk. It takes place this Sunday, May 5, 2013, beginning at 9 a.m. at Macopin Middle School, 70 Highlander Drive. This is a USA Track and Field certified course. There will be door prizes, post-race refreshments, music and age group category awards.
Over 200 people have pre-registered for the race and many more can register on the morning of the event. The donation is $30 for adults, $25 for those 17 and under.
Registration and check in starts at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 8:45 a.m. Line up is at 8:50 and the race kicks off at 9 a.m.
Spring cleaning? Keep the shelter in mind. They are accepting donations for its annual garage sale, which will be held in June. It's a great opportunity to recycle and help the animals waiting for new homes and families. Clothing, large pieces of furniture and large televisions cannot be accepted due to storage limitations.
