WEST MILFORD — On Monday, June 11, 2012, Matt Myklusch, author of the Jack Blank series of adventure books for grades 3 through 7, made a visit to Westbrook Elementary School on June 11 and made a presentation to the third through sixth grade students. His books can be described as a cross between Percy Jackson and the Avengers. Myklusch spoke to the students about his childhood dream and passion to become a writer. He showed the students illustrations he created as far back as third grade. He combined his love for comic books and drawing to create the Jack Blank adventure series.

Even while working for MTV for 10 years and meeting countless numbers of celebrities, he never gave up on his dream. Myklusch reiterated to the students the importance of never giving up on a dream.

The students also heard a presentation from four authors from Kazakhstan. They were special guests from the United States State Department cultural exchange program for the arts. The students learned about the books these authors published and about Kazakhstan. The authors were able to visit an American school, something they have never previously seen. It was a wonderful experience for the students and the authors.
