Beautification Day set

WEST MILFORD — West Milford will be sparkling in a few weeks. That's because the annual Beautification Day is set for Saturday, April 21.

Each spring, and sometimes fall, volunteers from throughout the township get out there and pick up the trash that has accumulated over time. West Milford does a great job, in large part because it has such great volunteers. On this day you will see sports teams, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the high school Green Team and many others out there in force, collecting garbage and recyclables.

Last year, even in cold, damp weather, 725 people volunteered to clean up the community. They collected 640 bags of recyclables, five tons of garbage and 10 tons of metal, that was turned into cash for the township.

The clean-up is followed by a free picnic at Bubbling Springs.

Sounds like a great way to spend the day for sure. If you or your group are interested in volunteering for Beautification Day, call David Stires, the township's recycling coordinator to sign up. He will supply all volunteers with gloves, bags and a free t-shirt.

So get out there and make West Milford the clean community it is known to be.
