WEST MILFORD - The 2019 West Milford Board of Education kicked off the new year with its Reorganization meeting on Jan. 3.
Sitting board members welcomed newcomers Kate Romeo and David C. Ofshinsky, and returning elected incumbent Trustee Teresa Dwyer to the panel.
Trustees Lynda Van Dyk and Teresa Dwyer were re-elected by the school board to serve once again as BOE president and vice-president, respectively.
Romeo and Ofshinsky joined elected incumbent Teresa Dwyer at the podium, where they recited the oath of office administered by Board Attorney Joseph Roselli.
Each then made a brief statement thanking their supporters and their families for the opportunity to serve, and stated their commitment to working together with fellow school board members in facing the challenges of the school district, overseeing and providing the best possible educational environment and opportunities for students and staff alike, enhancement of communication with families, and ensuring the continuation of forward progress being made at each school level, in a fiscally responsible manner.
Dwyer added the desire to move past recent negative election campaign tactics, behaviors and attitudes displayed and voiced by others, to work together cooperatively as a collegial school board.
Board meetings will continue to be held at Westbrook School Media Center at 7:30 p.m. with Workshop Meetings “for the purpose of, but not limited to, all public presentations, committee information, and Budget development” to be held on the third Tuesday of each month, and Regular Meetings held on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
