Celebrating the 100th day of school at Ringwood Christian

RINGWOOD — The 100th day of school was an exciting time at Ringwood Christian School. Ali Vervoordt’s kindergarten students made special hats decorated with 100 items of their choice and Laura Anfang’s first graders made t-shirts decorated with 100 items. The two classes joined together and paraded throughout the building.
Melody Clark, second grade teacher, helped her students celebrate this special day by organizing 10 different activities each focused on the concept of 100. Each student was given a passport which was stamped as they moved to the 10 activity locations. The second graders counted 100 pieces of popcorn and then ate them. The activities included completing 100 addition and 100 subtraction problems, putting a 100-piece puzzle together, using 100 letter tiles to make as many words as possible and still more.
For the second grade, the highlight of the day was rewarding the students who reached their goal of reading 100 or more books by the 100th day of school. These students included Ruby Richard, Sean VanDerWeert and Kara Bysterbusch, who read 252 books.
