Chilton offering holiday cooking class geared to diabetics

    — The holidays are just around the corner. Before you know it, there will be cookies and sweets aplenty. This can be a challenging time of year for those with diabetes.

    Chilton Hospital’s Diabetes Education Department offers a class that provides solutions to this dilemma. A “Diabetes Holiday Cooking Class” will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

    The course will be led by Dan Frey who is not only a chef, but also a Type 1 diabetic himself. He will provide an educational and culinary experience that includes:

    diabetes friendly cooking demonstrations

    sampling of healthy, fresh food

    creative recipes and menus to take home that promote healthful eating for those with diabetes and their families during the holidays

    The class will be held at the Chilton Health Network, 242 West Parkway, Pompton Plains, just 1.5 miles from the hospital, in the MICU classroom. Pre-registration is $10. For more information or to register, call 973-831-5000, extension 5720.
