Clarification

WEST MILFORD — In an article about West Milford Police Chief Gene Chiosie's announced retirement two weeks ago, the West Milford Messenger stated that Chiosie "wanted to put an officer in the schools but he found resistance with the council and some school board members and administrators."

West Milford Board of Education Vice President Wayne Gottlieb took the Messenger to task for not identifying who on the school board expressed resistance to the plan.

In an effort to clarify, the Messenger has posted video from a town council meeting held on Aug. 3, 2011, where members of the school board and the interim superintendent voiced their opinions on security in the district and the way in which the SRO question was brought about. A short, edited version of those comments and a longer, unedited version can be viewed at westmilfordmessenger.com.
