Bear Scout Den 3 of Cub Scout Pack 51 in Oak Ridge/West Milford planted mums on Union Valley Road in the fall. The planting spot, on the corner of Union Valley Road and Oxbow Lane, was in need of some work, so the boys made arrangements to clean it up and plant the flowers. The scouts earned credit toward their Bear Badge requirement, “Take Care of Your Planet.” The Den 3 Bears also earned credit toward another Bear badge achievement, “Law Enforcement is a Big Job,” with a visit and tour of the West Milford Police Station. The boys got a tour of the dispatch center, the jail, and the police cars. They also learned about crime prevention.
