WEST MILFORD — Union Valley Road in the vicinity of Stephens Road was closed Tuesday, from just after 10 a.m. until nearly 8 p.m., after a flatbed truck carrying a pre-fabricated house on Stephens Road hit power wires, pulling down not only the wires but also snapping the utility pole. According to West Milford Police Chief Tim Storbeck, the wires and the pole were across the roadway, causing power outages for nearby residents. There were no injuries.
Utility companies worked throughout the day to clear the scene. Traffic was detoured to local streets and power was out to many nearby residents for hours in the morning.
