Fire destroys vacant house

West Milford. There were no injuries as fire raged through a vacant home on Dan Jennings Road Thursday morning.

The West Milford Fire Department responded at 11:15 a.m. Dec. 19 to a structure fire in a vacant house at 21 Dan Jennings Road.

According to the fire department, arriving units found the structure fully involved with flames.

A water supply and relay was set up to battle the blaze and the fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes, fire officials said.

The township's Department of Public Works brought in heavy equipment to work on the site, according to the department.

In addition to the fire itself, crews also battled extremely cold temperatures during the call.

Multiple mutual aid departments assisted in fighting the fire, and no injuries were reported.

The fire is presently under investigation by the West Milford Fire Marshal's Office, officials said.
