Free High Holiday services in Greenwood Lake

| 06 Sep 2023 | 01:04

Members of the revitalized B’nai Torah Shul in Greenwood Lake, N.Y., are preparing for the High Holidays.

Beginning with Rosh Hashanah on Sept. 15-17 and ending with Yom Kippur on Sept. 24-25, these High Holy days are called the “10 Days of Awe” and are some of the holiest days in the Jewish community.

Time is spent in reflection and people apologize to those they have hurt or offended in the past year. At the end of the 10 days, the Book of Life is sealed and the Jewish new year. begins.

Like many houses of worship, B’nai Torah Shul, which is nearly 70 year old, was struggling to survive only two years ago. Big changes were made and now the congregation is growing.

As is tradition at B’nai Torah, everyone may attend High Holiday services for free.

However, there is a limit of 140 people, so please RSVP as soon as possible online at bnaitorahgwl.org/hh

For information, call 845-477-3716 or send email to bnaitorahshul@gmail.com
